Paris Roubaix route, Queen of Classics

Best bike us - Paris Roubaix route, Queen of Classics

It’s been more than a week since I wrote an article Paris Roubaix route on this blog, but with the cycling event that arrives this Sunday, I stand out my pen…

Paris-Roubaix, the hell of the North, the queen of the classics, the most beautiful, … All these superlatives are not too much to describe the 259 km borrowed history that runners will have to travel on April 11, 2010. 259 km, including 52.9 km of cobblestones, spread across 27 sectors, which will make a ruthless selection over the miles.

A historical course

Like every year, the Troisvilles sector will launch hostilities. At this stage of the race, we are usually entitled to a group of breakaways opening the road in front of a still compact pack, which will soon be unraveled with the fall of punctures.

The first big meeting takes place at the end of 10 paved sectors (already!) When the riders appear in front of the Arenberg trench. Place of all contrasts, this long hose through the forest sublimates the best, and buries the others!

From this moment on, no rest is possible and the sectors follow each other at full speed. The time for the favorites to fly away and engage in a merciless fight. The race is usually played in the last 30 kilometers and more precisely in the strategic sector between Cysoing and the Carrefour de l’Arbre. A true construction site, this world-famous sector created the decision last year. As my coach explained to me when I was a kid, the one coming out ahead of the Gruson area won the race.

Towards a duel Boonen or Cancellara

This race designed for the champions should unsurprisingly crown one of the two protagonists of the Tour of Flanders run last week. Two huge runners by their talents, who will run to the velodrome to get into the story. Tom Boonen, already three times winner, could equal the record of victory of Mr. De Vlaeminck, while Cancellara will race for a double Tour of Flanders / Paris-Roubaix. But Paris-Roubaix is never written in advance, and bad luck could hit our two favorites. Can a third man be successful? Personally, I would bet a little piece on the BMC team’s American, George Hincapie. Well in the leg, and especially over-motivated by this race, after multiple attempts, I feel that 2010 could finally allow him to achieve his dream: raise a pavement in the center of the velodrome…
